When a person knits, she works the needles back and forth in such a way that the knitting turns in a spiral and becomes twisted up. But usually she is knitting something that is easy to shake out. It’s not so easy to work the tension out of a line that’s 2 blocks long!
I decide to take the knitting to the highest point in Bellingham–the tower on Sehome Hill. My neighbor-friend drives me and the giant ball of knitting. We watch mesmerized as the ball of line gradually unwinds itself.
